Examples of signature files and ads for your emails:

A signature file is a few lines of text and/or links that, once created by you, can be inserted at the end of all your outgoing emails automatically by your email software (i.e., Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, etc.).

How to create a signature file

Here's how to create a signature file in Microsoft Outlook:

Open Outlook.
Under the "Tools" menu, click on "Options."
Click the "Mail Format" tab.
Click "Signature Picker" at the bottom of the screen.
Choose "New" and follow the prompts to name your signature file and enter your SMARTGYM descriptive text and your Affiliate URL.
Once you make the new signature file the default, it will be inserted automatically at the end of every email you send, thus generating referral fees without any further work on your part.

Examples for letters to your customer database:

You would write a simple email letter that would say in the introduction:

"Thank you for purchasing XXXXX not too long ago. We appreciate your business. I am emailing you for two reasons. The first is to thank you for your business and the second is to mention something that we thought would be of interest to you." ...(and then carry on with recommending that they visit the SMARTGYM site for the easiest, fastest way to the body they've always dreamed of, similar to Text Link Example #3).

Or if you have a guest list of free services you offer, you could say:

"Thank you for visiting our site and using our Free XXXX. I am emailing you for two reasons. The first is to thank you and the second is to mention something that I thought you would be interested in." ...(after the introductions you can then carry on with your heartfelt personal recommendation that they visit the SMARTGYM site, similar to Text Link Example #3).

Examples for newsletters:

If you have a newsletter audience that you want to promote SMARTGYM to, you could say that you are emailing them separately from the monthly ezine because you've found something on the net that is worth mentioning and want to bring it to their attention. Then go on with something very similar to Text Link Example #3. This approach, by far, pulls in the best response, because it is a personal note separate from the standard newsletter and it demands attention and urgency.

Examples for autoresponders:

If you have an autoresponder set up to thank people for visiting your site, or maybe one that sends out articles you have written, or information about your products and services, then you might consider incorporating a short recommendation at the end of the autoresponder for recipients to visit the SMARTGYM site for the easiest, fastest way to the body they've always dreamed of and also to download their FREE Fitness Secrets That Make You Thin eBook.

Hand the cards out so that visitors can go home and order online using your Affiliate URL. And, if they also sign up to become an Affiliate (YOU signed up, didn't you?), then you earn 5% on their sales as well!

You can use your new Affiliate cards just like regular business cards and hand them out to everyone you meet, at parties, business meetings, trade shows, seminars, restaurants, shopping malls, etc.

How to track your advertising:

Email marketing, by placing ads in ezines and newsletters and sending out email letters to your customer database, is extremely effective and can lead to big profits for you. But how do you know which ads are pulling in the customers? The answer is ad tracking.

The SMARTGYM Affiliate Program has powerful ad tracking features built right in. When you login to the password-protected Affiliate area at http://www.smartgym.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/affiliate.cgi with your Affiliate Username and password, you are presented with a screen showing your default Affiliate URL (http://www.smartgym.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/c.cgi/YOUR AFFILIATE USERNAME_ad). Note the "_ad" (underscore, followed by the word "ad"). This is the default Tracker ID. You can change "ad" to anything you want and it will show up in your Affiliate login area when that specific ad tracker gets traffic.

You can leave the Tracker ID off your Affiliate URL (i.e., http://www.smartgym.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/c.cgi/YOUR AFFILIATE USERNAME) and you will still be credited with all your hits and sales when a customer clicks on your Affiliate link, but you won't be able to tell where those hits and sales came from without using a Tracker ID.

As an example, let's say you decide to run an ad in an ezine called Health & Fitness Now. First you login to to your password-protected Affiliate area at http://www.smartgym.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/affiliate.cgi with your Affiliate Username and password. Next, you create a Tracker ID. It could be anything you want, but for this example we'll name it "HFN-1." Now, just add the Tracker ID to the end of your Affiliate URL (remember to add the underscore between your Affiliate Username and the Tracker ID. If your Affiliate Username is "user1000" then your Affiliate link would be http://wwww.smartgym.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/c.cgi/user1000_HFN-1. Simply use that URL in the ad you place in the Health & Fitness Now ezine and anyone who clicks it will be sent to the SMARTGYM website. All hits to that URL will then show up in your Affiliate login area.

You can define as many Tracker IDs as you want. Which means you can track each and every ad you place and know exactly how many hits and how many sales resulted from each one. Ad tracking is the way to really fine-tune your sales pitch.
