And since doors are readily available almost anywhere
you go, we don't have to sell you the frame, which drops the price dramatically.
Vector
Balanced™ Design SMARTGYM
sets up and packs up easily in just seconds. It's secured to
a door using two narrow "cinching straps" made from very
thin, very light, but extremely
strong, polypro webbing. The cinching straps slide over
the top and underneath the door and meet behind the
door where they are pre-threaded through a D-ring.
Simply pulling downward on the cinching straps levers the pulleys apart to rest at the top and bottom of the
door with the Power Bands stretched between them. Velcro is used to hold the straps
in place at the back of the door once they've been
"cinched" tight. Once setup is
complete, SMARTGYM behaves as if it's been screwed
directly to the door. But what's really happening is
that it's "Vector Balanced," and that's why
it can remain flat against the door even as you push
and pull on the Power Bands.
In fact, no matter how tightly your door is fitted to its
frame, the cinching straps will still fit between door
and frame for easy, no hassle setup. No screws or fasteners needed!
Beware of cheap "knock-off"
products that attach to your door with bulky steel clamps. These can
prevent the door from closing, and make the product unsafe and unusable.
Only SMARTGYM's patented Vector Balanced™ design fits all standard doors (up to 7' high).
You can also choose to wall-mount SMARTGYM
more permanently on any vertical surface in any room of
your home or office.
Free
motion resistance... it's easy on your body!
SMARTGYM's resistance system (or weight) consists of 4 Power
Bands. You get 2 light-weight blue
bands (one blue band for each hand) and 2 heavy-weight red bands (one red band for each
hand). The Power Bands are dynamic,
which means that the resistance steadily increases as they're stretched.
This provides a number of advantages over dead weights, such as dumbbells and barbells.
For
example, at the end of a set of bicep curls with a dumbbell, when your muscle is in its
uncontracted, vulnerable state, you've got the full pressure of the weight tugging on the
muscle and then you have to bend over and set the weight on the floor or push it into a
rack. Unless you're very careful, free weights can put lots of pressure on your back, joints, and spine.
Using
SMARTGYM,
however, at the end of the same set of bicep curls, the Power Bands are no longer
stretched, so there's no weight tugging on the fatigued muscle and virtually no pressure
on your back, joints, and spine.
And since there is no "weight" to hold
in position, SMARTGYM allows you to do exercises that are virtually impossible to do with
free weights. Plus, if you're training to be an astronaut, you could even use
SMARTGYM in
the weightless conditions of outer space! The
SMARTGYM system offers both high and low
pulley positions so you can push and pull the Power Bands in almost any conceivable manner
or direction, facilitating over 70 muscle building and cardiovascular
exercises, Pilates training, cardio dancing, rehab, and physical therapy.
It's so easy to use! All you have to do is
change your body position relative to the pulleys and,
instantly, you're working a different muscle! No setting up or changing the machine.
This
revolutionary breakthrough in design allows you to flow from exercise to exercise without
stopping, so your workout is extremely quick. And since your heart rate can remain
elevated within your target aerobic range, each workout is also extremely effective.
Changing
Resistance
Each SMARTGYM exercise is designed to work a specific muscle group, and since
muscles vary in strength, it's important to choose an appropriate resistance level for
each exercise to be the most effective. Changing resistance is a snap - literally.
Simply
snap the handles, ankle straps, or cardio belt onto one or more Power Bands in different
combinations. Eight different combinations, or levels of resistance, are possible. The red
Power Band (just think "red hot") is more powerful than the blue Power Band
("cool blue"). However, two blue Power Bands are stronger than one red Power
Band.
The 8 possible
combinations, or
resistance levels, from lowest to highest, are shown below:

Remember, the Power Bands work on the principle of
Dynamic Variable Resistance -- the more they're stretched, the higher the resistance.
This
makes fine tuning overall resistance extremely quick and easy. Simply step further away
from the door to increase resistance or move closer to the door to decrease resistance in
increments smaller than one Power Band.
Setup
SMARTGYM
comes completely assembled and ready for action.
Setting up and packing
up for transport are as easy as 1, 2, 3... 4, 5, 6.
SMARTGYM
can also be wall mounted!

Setting Up
SMARTGYM |
|

Remove
SMARTGYM from the carry bag, unroll it, and hold it by the top bracket (with
the SMARTGYM logo). The webbing straps
and Power Bands are held in place with 3 band clips. Slide the webbing
straps out of the band clips, but leave the Power Bands clipped together.
|

Slip the webbing straps over the top
of door (Power Bands face the exercise room, straps on opposite side). Slip
the webbing straps underneath bottom of door in the same manner. Slide both brackets to center of door. Make sure
bottom bracket rests on the floor and straps are not twisted.
|
|

Behind the door, grasp the webbing straps, one
in each hand, and pull downward as far as possible. This action slides the top bracket up
until it stops at top of door. Press strap ends down onto the exposed Velcro® to secure them
in place. The Power Bands should now be stretched tautly between the brackets.
|

Check the front of door to make sure both
brackets are level and even with the top and bottom of the door, respectively. If necessary,
adjust the webbing straps to make them even by tightening each of the rear cinching straps
as needed.
|
|

Close and LOCK THE DOOR.
|

Remove the three band
clips from
the top, middle, and bottom of the Power Bands. Attach handles, ankle straps, or cardio
belt and go for it!
|
|
Packing Up
SMARTGYM |
|

Before packing up, immobilize the
Power Bands by attaching the 3 band clips at the top, middle, and bottom of
the Power Bands. This keeps the
Power Bands from getting tangled once they are no longer stretched on the door.
|

Behind
the door, pull up on the ends of
the webbing straps to release them from the Velcro® and allow them to gently slide upward
to top of door.
|
|

Slip
the top webbing straps off the top of the door
and, while holding at shoulder height, pull the bottom webbing straps from underneath
the door.
|

With one hand holding
the top bracket at
shoulder height, use the other hand to grasp Power Bands in the center and fold
over the top bracket so it hangs just above the bottom bracket.
|
|

Continue to double the bands over one
more time, then wrap the rubber band around the end of the quadrupled Power Bands to
secure the unit for transport.
|

Slide the unit into the carry
bag. Stuff the handles, ankle straps, and cardio belt into the bag alongside
the unit and pull the drawstring tight to close. Throw over your shoulder and go!

Wall Mounting
SMARTGYM
Position the top main bracket flat
on wall about 78" high (standard
door height). Separate the pulleys to expose two wall-mounting holes in the center of the bracket. Mark the hole positions on the wall.
Position the bottom main bracket directly underneath the top bracket, about 2" above the floor, and mark the hole
positions.
For wood-framed walls, use four 1/4" x 2" wood screws (not supplied) to attach the brackets. Brackets must be attached to a wall
stud.

For concrete or brick walls, concrete
anchors must be used (1/4" x 2" minimum size).
Pre-drill holes using a
masonry bit. The diameter should be just large enough to accommodate the anchor; the depth should be 1/2" longer than the anchor. Use a hammer to tap each anchor through the bracket and into the hole.
Using a screwdriver, tighten each anchor securely.
Warning: Consult a qualified builder before wall mounting
SMARTGYM. Make sure the brackets are tight and secure before using
SMARTGYM! Manufacturer assumes no liability for any injuries suffered as a result of wall mounting
SMARTGYM.
